I broke up with my bf of 9 years today. How does one recover from it?

I am 35, my fiance is 23. We have been together almost three years, and counting. The problem is, as with any young man, he is feeling a bit overwhelmed, and possibly bored with the relationship. At one time, we did fun things together, and shared new experiences. he was the most attentive and romantic man I ever knew. Now, we work, pay bills, and have so little left over for anything, let alone fun. He’s bored, I’m bored, and he is feeling like there is so much more out there for him than the dull, everyday life he leads with me. Help!!! Well it sounds like you gys are getting comfortable with eachother and having to get into reality instead of tuning out the rest of the world because everyinthig was so new at first. With your age difference, you and him were probably having a great love life due to you and him both being in your sexual peak times. Women and men are on different clocks biologicly so the age diff makes sense. But when the passion is starting to fizzle you may start to realize that sex isn’t the only reason people get together and is the last reason people stay together.

Like separating from a long-term relationship, but then agreeing to get back together a couple of years down the line… And these people are in their 20s…
Even if these two love each other and been through traumatic life experiences, what are the odds they’ll meet someone new and forget about the "pact"? Basically move on… The underlying problem is trust, and that they possibly met each other too young.

Lets see you sound like me… Imo id say no. Im sure within years time the 2 of you will grow apart and move on. But if nothing works now in the relationship why would it work later? Just a thought..

its been years and you’ve moved on already and you have a new bf or gf. i was wondering how many of you still feel butterflies in your stomach and feel your heart beat fast when you see your ex bf or ex gf…how many of you are still in love with them?

I feel that way sometimes. We were high school sweethearts, and were together for 4 years. Its been 2 years since we broke up. Whenever I come back home its like we’re supposed to be together because that’s how it always was before. I don’t think about it too much when I’m at college or anywhere else. It’s just when I go home I feel the need to talk to him or just be with him all the time. I’m not sure if that means I’m still in love with him or just really still care for him.

They loved each other, but went through hell like most couples do. They just recently broke up and now the guy is off dating another chick so soon. (Within a couple of weeks I think)

They weren’t in love, at least he wasn’t and your friend fooled herself to believe she was in love, you kids don’t know what love is that’s why half of all marriages end in divorce

I just can have relationships with other people even the best and the nicest people. I miss my ex everyday. I just cant give up. Is this the wrong way to be.

my aunt was divorced many years ago, never remarried, never even went out on dates. i would have to think that she wasted her life, i am sure she loved her ex too but to waste her entire life just hurt her. she lost out on finding happiness because she was stuck on just one man.
