I have a 21 year history with this person and children. I kept hoping and believing he would change. He led me to believe things would be different and that was not true. I am not the woman for him but I am still in love with him. How do I move on when I am naturally inclined to be in serious relationships and am family oriented.

You sound just like me, although my last relationship was not 21 years.

Get a hobby to take your mind off of things. Get some help with the kids and make sure you socialise and keep many friends and family in your life. Go out with some girlfriends and let your hair down. You know the relationship wasn’t right, and you know you need to move on…so for your sake don’t make contact with unless its necessary (for the kids etc) and when you do, keep it short. The process will be quicker if you’re not around him.

Supposedly it takes a year and a day to get over someone, so keep aiming for that deadline and you never know, you might meet someone along the way who will really take your mind off of him.

i dated this girl through all of high school, and i spent countless hours with her. i would be with her every day. we talked about our future together, i was there for her when ever she needed me. i gave her everything. everyone of her friends told her i was a great boyfriend and a keeper. but last night she told me she didnt love me the same way and ended things.

I am from a very strict background. My husband didn’t have a father and his mother was VERY loose and uncaring. He has had a rough upbringing and life. We have had many problems already but we both know we are meant to be and stay together, no matter what. A past "friend" (female and very jealous) lied to him about me to cause a serious problem. He has been "running" ever since. He says he is to blame for the problem anyway, but he can’t seem to get himself together. He quit his job and went away for 8 weeks. We have a 2 yr old and I am 8 months pregnant. I just don’t feel the closeness we used to have. I have offered to do anything he feels he needs to help our situation. He just can’t seem to put one foot in front of the other, even though he says he wants to. He has made attempts but has failed so far. What can/should I do?

You can’t fix this by yourself. Ask your husband to visit a marriage counselor with you. It would probably be best if you went by yourself for a couple session in order to explain your situation.
