Meet up with my Ex for the first time since the breakup?

My ex girlfriend of over 2 years and I met for the first time this weekend since our break up over 3 months ago. The break up was hard and we went back and forth between NC and LC. She began dating shortly after our breakup which caused me a lot of anger and pain. The guy was completely different than me and she did admit she never thought she’d be together with someone like him.

It had been three months and finally starting talking again… albeit limited. We made plans to grab something to eat and have a few drinks. Dinner was very good… not really awkward in fact it went fast as we had 3 months of catching up to do and both had lots of questions.

Afterward we had some beers and continued to have a good time. We both talked a lil about each others partners (as I am just beginning to date) and she is still dating the same guy. Overall i think it was great and really went better than I anticipated.

What I’m confused about is I still find her incredibly attractive and I’m confident that she still does too with me. I kind of get the feeling she’s happy with her current boyfriend, as evident with the fact they are taking trips to Mexico and Vegas so early in their relationship however she might still have feelings for me. She did say the fact she met her boyfriend so fast after the breakup, helped distract her from our breakup.

What would you guys do in my situation? I love the girl to death and want to be in her life, even if for now im just a friend, however, I made it clear I’m not JUST satisfied with that and I would want more. I have made steps by dating now, but I seem to always have the possibility of getting back together down the road in the back of my mind.

What should I do… ladies advice or experience would be greatly appreciated!!

This is talking from experience…

I was in a 5 year relationship and lived with a guy I though I was going to marry, have children with, the whole thing.

Turns out he didn’t feel the same way, and we broke up 5 months ago.
We tried to get back together this past summer, but it didn’t work because there were issues that we never touched back on.
We ended things on bad terms again and we have not spoken in over a month.

My advice is, you broke up for a reason correct? Remember that reason, and think about if it can be fixed. Talk about it and work on it, but in the meantime also realize that she’s in another relationship as well. Maybe she doesn’t feel the same way, and that could be an even bigger hit to you.

I would back off and give her her space, and let her new relationship blossom. Like that old cliche, ‘if you love someone set them free’. It sucks but it’s true.

Have fun dating again, you learn what to look for in a woman and what you want from a relationship. And BE PICKY.

Good luck, and take care
